How Essential Oils can be a real estate agent’s secret success weapon!
I’ll bet most of you didn’t know that at one time I was a real estate agent. Yep that is – right me. It sounded like a perfect fit… choose your own hours so you can be home with the kids, show sparkling houses to people excited about a new home. Well it wasn’t so perfect because you don’t get to choose your own hours, your clients do. The agency has requirements about floor time and those houses aren’t usually sparkling and the buyers look at you like you are a snake oil salesman and the sellers want you to sell their house right this second and are so attached to it they think it is a mansion that people would be blessed to own. And that doesn’t even take into account that some other agents are cut throat and in a home inspection you might have to crawl in the mud or have someone shove some rat dropping filled insulation under your nose. Did I mention it is one of the most stressful jobs out there right after the New York Stock Exchange? So it wasn’t really a good fit for me and I found a profession where you can be nice, help people and no one gets ticked off at you if you put your client’s needs first.
Even though I left the industry, I still have friends in the industry and after a long conversation with one of them lamenting about another house showing disaster where the seller went on vacation for two weeks and didn’t have anyone come in and change the kitty litter box. Ewww!
So I shared with her the little story about one afternoon when my husband was cleaning the garage and had the door open because it was hot and sunny. My teenager texted and needed a ride and so he went to get her and left it open. When he came back he discovered the neighborhood tom cats had gotten in and had a little fight and sprayed everywhere. He was fit to be tied but we cleaned up with Protective Blend cleaner and then I diffused Cleansing Blend for the smell. He left for his sailboat race and six hours later when he came home the smell was gone and never returned. That conversation got me thinking about all the ways a real estate agent could use Essential Oils that would make their life easier and of course increase their successes.

Protective Blend Mold killer: Mix the essential oil with water and spray on areas and wipe clean. Unlike bleach it doesn’t cause mold bloom. Plus you can diffuse it in the winter and the sent will remind people of those yummy Christmas Spice candles.
Protective Blend Foaming Hand Soap: While it is great for cleaning your hands after showing a grimy property; can be used for a waterless hand sanitizer, it really shines when it is used for cleaning stubborn carpet stains.
Protective Blend Cleaner Concentrate: This will clean anything. It leaves a nice orange-clovey scent instead of strong harsh scents that might turn off or leave buyers wondering. The clean seems to last longer too, our toilets, sinks and tubs stay looking clean longer. As an added bonus if you have a client that is sensitive to chemical smells this won’t cause a reaction.
Grounding Blend: No one should be without this. If you have a stressed-out needs to sell now Seller or a Buyer with a deadline just take a drop, rub it on your hands and inhale and you’ve got an instant mood resent button to calm anxious feelings. Put it on your car air freshener if you drive your clients or put some on your clothing so it disperses through the air and effects them too.
