Keep the Fourth Fun
Everything about the Fourth of July excites me! From the parade to the booths to the fireworks! Here are some tips to keep the Fourth fun!
Hot… can you say hot and outside all day? Peppermint is my friend. I mix one part Peppermint with three parts Fractionated Coconut Oil and apply to the back of my neck to keep me cool. Plus if you are going on a picnic bring that peppermint and some cotton balls and make a little ant barrier. Another added bonus is it is invigorating! I’m ready for bed before the fireworks gets started so I keep sniffing my bottle of Peppermint for a pick me up!
Bad food that is oh so good means Digestive Blend. I put a drop in my mouth or dilute and rub on tummies before we go to the food booths. I know I’m not supposed to have a Dragon Dog, Cotton Candy or Shaved Ice but I’m weak and it is just once a year right? The Digestive Blend gives me that extra little bit of support to help me when I over indulge.
Sparklers… I always hold them too long. Lavender comforts my skin when I get my yearly reminder to toss them before it is too late! It is also calming and a drop on your pillow helps you relax after all of the excitement.
With all that heat I always crave something sweet and want to make sure I stay hydrated. Try my faux lemonade… mix a drop of Lemon with some liquid stevia (I use Nunaturals brand) add ice cubes and water. Yummy!
I’m a biting insect magnet. I must have the tastiest blood because if they are around they swarm me. I like to rub Repellent Blend on my clothes, hair and exposed skin. They can land all they like but they don’t want to bite!
When I get bit is usually when I remember to reach for the Repellent Blend. If one of those biting insects sneaks in and gets you before you put your Terrashield on, reach for Basil or Cleansing Blend and apply over the bite.
To help shield your skin from the sun… whip up a batch of sunscreen. It takes about two minutes and it is so much better for you!
After a full day in the sun reach for my DIY Soothing Sun Spray. It’ll become a staple in your home too!
I hope that these little tips will help you and your loved ones keep the Fourth fun!
Note: All essential oils aren’t created equally. Especially for internal use check the label to see if it is safe. Why?…Essential Oil Grades
Never knew his about essential oils. My daughter was born on the fourth of July and we had many celebrations.
It looks like you have us covered for just about all the little challenges we may encounter while celebrating the 4th of July!
great tips! Those mosquitoes are enough to keep me indoors every time.
This was superfab… didn’t think about those but it was a great way to tie your product to the holiday and special tips… loooooved the peppermint to cool down.. haven’t tried that.. I wonder if a peppermint patty would work. lmao
Never thought about how essential oils could help with the holidays. Great tie in.
Great info, Ginny. Essential oils certainly are part of my everyday life. Instead of reaching for some toxin-filled products, reach for eo’s.
Great info! My fave is the lemon. Far better alternative to candies…
Love how you took the holiday and made it even better with all the wonderful products from doTerra. I am a BIG essential oil person as well and love lemon and lemongrass. Lavender and rose too. The insect repellent sounds great, as I am a bug magnet. I’ve been told I have “sweet” blood and that’s why they love me. 🙂 Thanks for the great post and hope your celebration was fantastic!
With the wonders of the essential oils, who else can celebrate the Fourth of July an amazing affair or eventful celebration.
Wow, talk about a TON of uses for EO’s!!! Love the faux lemonade idea, as well as the ant barrier using the peppermint on a cotton ball 🙂 I am majorly allergic to ant bites so this is something I’ll have to start doing now that I know about it!
Wow, who knew the 4th could bring out so many necessary oils? Great tips, especially for the mosquitoes! I hate those things!
Great solutions! I had no idea essential oils could do all this! Thanks for sharing this information.
I need to get some of the Terrashield especially for my daughter. She gets really bad bite reactions and given how much time she spends outdoors on film sets in the woods around her college she is the perfect customer for it!
Wow, seems like there is something for everything! That’s awesome! Great ideas to prevent any possible issues to have a great 4th!
Great recipe for sunscreen. I love the smell of eucalyptus and lavender. I use lavender every night in my night time routine.
With all these tips, you must have had a fabolous 4th of July. 🙂 Summer and outdoor festivities are always so fun, but true, you tend to eat and drink too much…
