Everyone always talks about the dreaded jet lag and how horrible it is so I was really worried on my trip to Germany that I’d be a Zombie and miss out on some of the fun. So I packed up my arsenal of essential oils and hit the plane with a plan to sleep over and then everything would be fine! Great plan and it worked really well on the way over.
What they don’t tell you is that going over isn’t usually the hard part, it is coming home. I don’t know whether it is the excitement of the trip or just being able to sleep on the way over that makes it true but they aren’t kidding, jet lag is brutal! It took me almost no time to adjust on the way there and about a week to adjust when I was home. It wasn’t horrible, just annoying to wake up at 2am and try to get back to sleep and then wake up at 4am and again at 6am. Forget about going back to sleep after that!
On the way over I whipped this up to help relax me so that I could drift off on the plane…
I put it on the bottom of my feet and I took Lavender and put it on my wrists and pillow. I found it surprisingly easy to drift off on the plane. I continued to use it every time I needed restorative sleep. A couple of other tips… wear flip flops or easy to remove shoes and bring socks for the plane. Bring a metal water bottle and add drops of lemon oil to it. Keeping hydrated is very key to feeling good when you get off the plane.
Naturally when you flip your days and your nights you’ll have moments where you find yourself lagging a bit. I brought this blend along to keep me alert!
These two combos really helped me transition into different time zones. Remember… you do have to use them a lot!
