People comment on how long my hair is all the time. They’ll often say things like ‘You must have great hair genetics in your family’ or that I’m lucky or ask how I did it. It happens often enough that I thought I’d share my dirty little secret, because it is not genetics and it is not a weave or extensions!
I wasn’t born with this hair – not at all. You might look at my daughters who have long hair too and think that, but they got their hair from their dad. I’ve had baby fine hair my whole life; the kind usually reserved for tall slim Nordic goddesses with white blonde hair. Except mine was dark brown the color of coffee, and it certainly wasn’t a long beautiful shimmering cascade down my back. Nope, mine would grow to about my shoulders and stop. We tried everything… cutting it to see if it would grow back longer and thicker, coloring it, perming it. You name it I tried it. Then at a certain point in my life I just gave up on it and embraced cute short hairstyles and proclaimed that doing more was just too much work while secretly wishing I had long hair.
What changed? I tried some supplements that a friend recommended. I tried them because they were high in mercury free Omega Fatty Acids and since that is the best brain food I wanted more of it. I tried them and loved the energy and how much healthier I felt when I was taking them. But… I found there was a side effect to taking them. My hair really started growing faster Click To Tweetand it wasn’t breaking off. If I was willing to share it, you’d see from my driver’s license picture that was taken three years ago that my hair was about 2” below my ears. (Hopefully everyone will forgive me for not being brave enough to share that!) Now it hits the top of my pants. I have it cut on a regular basis, in fact at least twice now I’ve had them cut 8” off it. I won’t let it grow any longer than it is because I have no desire to fight sitting on my hair all the time.
So what is my secret? I take a specific brand of quality Vitality Supplements and I use shampoo, conditioner and styling glaze that are made with no bad for you ingredients and they have essential oils in them. In addition, every time I wash my hair I put a hair serum on it that contains essential oils including lavender, peppermint, marjoram, cedar wood, rosemary, eucalyptus and more.
I have to admit, I love my long hair and I don’t envy those who have to deal with extensions or painful weaves. Plus…I have the perfect excuse now why I don’t dye my grey hair… who can afford to redo it every 2 weeks? Click To Tweet

PS: I’m not trying to keep it a secret… the brand doesn’t allow their products named or pictured on non-company websites. I’d tell you if I could!
