Cravings… we all have them. Sweets or carbs are the most common that I hear but the possibilities are endless and most are unhealthy. Yet there is a quick and easy tool you can have in your arsenal to help soothe cravings. It is tiny, inexpensive, not awkward to use and super easy to make. Any guesses?
A toothpick. Nope, I’m not kidding. We just load it with the essential oil of your preference and when you get that craving you can pop one in your mouth and you’ll be surprised how soothing it is. Plus it also takes care of secondary issues with cravings like having something to put in your mouth and something to play with. Plus… zero calories!
First pick your essential oil of choice:
Black Pepper: Oral cravings.
Cinnamon: Sweets and Carbs.
Clove: Oral cravings.
Fennel: Sweets and Carbs
Peppermint: Mint or Menthol Flavored Products
Spearmint: Mint or Menthol Flavored Products.
To make your toothpicks you’ll need:
Toothpicks
Glass Jar with Lid (I just use a canning jar)
Fractionated Coconut Oil
10-20 drops of essential oil (must be safe for internal use).
Directions:
1. Take the glass jar and add enough Fractionated Coconut Oil, to cover the bottom and your toothpicks.
2. Add 10 drops of essential oil to the jar for mild and up to 20 for stronger flavor. Put the lid on and shake well.
3. Place toothpicks into the jar. Let the toothpicks sit in oil mixture overnight.
4. After the toothpicks have absorbed the oil mixture, lay the toothpicks on a flat surface that is glass or metal and let them dry for at least 24 hours. (You can save any leftover oil at the bottom of the glass jar to make more).
Of course these also are great for keeping your breath fresh!
Toothpicks aren’t your cup of tea? Try just inhaling the oil or make a roller ball. Just mix 15 drops of the oil of your choice with Fractionated Coconut Oil to fill the roller ball and you are good to go!
